Jessica Paduganan is back! During S2:E31, Jessica was a 3L at Michigan Law. Back then, she joined us for the Student Clinic Spotlight Series to share her experience in the Civil-Criminal Litigation Clinic and the Workers' Rights Clinic at Michigan Law. Today, Jessica is a Litigation Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York City and she's back to share her insight into what working at a large law firm in New York City has looked like in her first ten months. She discusses the transition from law school to practice, what aspects of law school were most valuable in preparing her for work at a firm, strategies for maintaining some balance while in a high-paced litigation environment and why that looks different from week to week, as well as why consistently doing quality work and remaining authentically yourself are two of the most helpful things a young associate can do.

On Episode of 55 of Personal Jurisdiction we chat with Megan Richardson and Lauren Myerscough-Mueller of The Exoneration Project, a non-profit based in Chicago, Illinois, which provides free legal services to fight for the wrongfully convicted and free the innocent. Although Megan and Lauren both currently work at the same organization, they took very different paths to get there--Megan started in big law and Lauren started as a public defender. Welcome back! We're thrilled to begin Season 4 of Personal Jurisdiction with Sara Coulter. Sara is a First Amendment Fellow at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. In this episode, Sara tells us about the "Rory Gilmore" generation, how traveling abroad to Oxford was one of the most memorable experiences of her law school years, why her experience in her law school legal clinic informed her view of the fairness of the law, and how diving deep into e-discovery helped her to gain the skills necessary to apply for a position in her dream area of First Amendment Law. We love having the opportunity to speak with law students - and Noah Nix is no exception! Noah Nix, a 3L at the University of Georgia School of Law and our guest on Episode 41 has had remarkable law school journey - and he's just getting started with his legal career. Noah has already argued before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals as part of UGA's Appellate Litigation Clinic and he is spending his third year of law school as a legal intern in the Appellate and Trial Groups at the Office of the Federal Public Defender in Denver, Colorado. During our conversation, Noah shares about what was happening in the country that drove him to apply to law school, how he found his anchor (and what it is!), and what he loves about appellate advocacy. In the final episode of our Student Clinic Spotlight Series, we speak with Analy Ayala. Analy is a rising 3L at the University of Illinois College of Law and a student attorney in the Immigration Law Clinic. Analy shares why she knew she wanted to be a lawyer from an early age, how she has developed her lawyer persona through her experience in the Immigration Law Clinic, and what she has done to continue to help other LatinX, First Generation law students find success in law school.

In this third episode of our Student Clinic Spotlight Series, we talk with Francisco Maldonado Andreu, a 2022 graduate from The George Washington University Law School. Francisco participated in the Civil and Human Rights Law Clinic, gaining experience with both international and US domestic clients while working on a wide variety of cases. Francisco was also the Co-President of the Latin American Law Student Association, and he was active in Lambda Law. Francisco shares details about his clinic experience, provides helpful advice for law students, and speaks about his perspective on what success means at this early stage in his career.

Jessica shares how participating in the clinic helped her to develop her lawyer persona, why she was intentional in seeking a position on the Michigan Law Review and how she found a supportive, authentic community in the First Generation Law Students group.
